GRETA VAN FLEET Channels LED ZEPPELIN In The Best Way Possible, Begins U.S. Tour With #1 Radio Single
This past June, while visiting metal friends in Stockholm for a proper Swedish midsummer, I was told about a brand new rock band from the states called Greta Van Fleet. Knowing Stockholm’s passion for 70’s style rock that can be seen across their music exports, fashion, and local music scene, I had an idea of what it’d sound like, but was pleasantly surprised it was so much more.
At the ripe age of 18-21, Michigan’s Greta Van Fleet have taken their influence of Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, and Muddy Waters to a whole new level. To me, they basically answer the question, “What if 1970’s Zeppelin still wrote music today?” I’d like to think that release would sound a lot like Black Smoke Rising, the debut EP by this incredibly young, but inspiring band. So far everyone I’ve shown the EP to, loves it as much as I do, so you owe it to yourself to rock it now, if you haven’t yet!
Check out their single “Highway Tune” below, which has gone to #1 on U.S. Active and Mainstream Rock Radio charts a couple weeks ago.
